As the week comes to an end, so does summer. This means that the start of school is right around the corner. I’m filled with mixed emotions. Many of my friends are already back at school, and I’m extremely ecstatic to move in and see them! Then there’s another part of me that is restless about starting a new major as a Junior. My first two years were filled with challenges, but now I’m finally excited to start a major that I’ll love. I know that the choice of switching my major was absolutely the right one to make, but this is the year to make sure I’m heading on the right path. It’s hard not to think about what will happen if this major turns out to not be what I expected, but I have powerful vibes that this is what I’ve been wanting. I plan my week before going back in order to feel more secure with my decisions, and it has really helped me be more prepared for going back to school.

I told myself that I need to pack up my things when I’m ready. I can’t pack the day of, but sometimes the urgency of having to pack the evening before is what helps me ease into the transition.

I made many lists for different categories. I had ones for bathroom supplies, kitchen supplies, clothing, school supplies, and room decor. Whenever I think of something else I want to bring, I just add it to my list so I don’t forget it. This helps make the packing more efficient and calming. (, a good start for a checklist!).

I prepare myself for the cost of books. I research more affordable ways of getting textbooks, such as renting from Amazon or buying the book from a student that took the class the year before. This way, I won’t be overwhelmed by the prices when I’m trying to adjust to being back at school.

Going back to school is different for everyone. My advice is to go about it in a way that will help you! Some people can’t wait to go back to school, while others wish there were just a few more weeks left of summer. No matter who you are, there are always ways to make this school year the one that you’ve been wanting to have.

I hope you all enjoy your first week back to school!
