Sparking Inspiration

In today’s post I wanted to share some ways I try to spark inspiration when writing!

Reading

Sometimes I go through old journals and re-read some of my entries from months or even years ago. This will help remind me of certain topics that I am passionate about. It’s a resource to help me write a public post about past or present emotions or issues. I also love reading other bloggers’ posts and learning more about each person. Some of their posts are about certain topics or general “tips” that will help me think of ideas on how I can branch out and inform others! Poetry is another way I set the mood before writing. Even if I’ve read a poem a dozen times, certain ones speak to me and point me in the right direction.

Breaks

After sitting at my computer for some time, I will get the urge to get in my car or take a walk. It’s a form of writer’s block that is easily cured with a quick drive to get a coffee or take photos of the natural scenery for a blog post. Certain places that I drive to sometimes trigger memories that become huge influences on my writing. My backyard is one of my favorite places to take a break or even use as a fresh environment to continue my writing. It’s also nice to just give yourself a break and treat yourself to something nice!

Music

As I said in the last section, music is a huge part of my mental flow when writing. I listen to music whenever I can. I have certain playlists I listen to when writing all types of posts. Upbeat and catchy songs for the more light-hearted posts and then classical/more relaxed songs for the more serious posts. Putting on my headphones gives my mind a new atmosphere to brainstorm and open up the gate to continue writing.

Question : What do you do to stay inspired?

Thanks for reading!

Stay rad,

Caroline Abigail
