Let’s Talk About Decor! : College Edition

The most important lesson I learned from moving into a new home is that it’s essential to make the new place feel like home. My favorite way to do this is by hanging my hats, posters, and photos of family and friends. The hard part about hanging things is that my lease doesn’t allow us to make holes in the wall. This can be hard when you run out of command strips or poster putty, but this year I made it work! I was able to find ways to hang up decorations while also hanging photos in creative ways.

The first way was to pin them on my monthly calendar. I hung up my calendar whiteboard with command hooks, and then thumb-tacked the photos on the cork part of the board.

The next way I was able to hang photos was using twine and mini clothes pins. I used clear command hooks to hang the twine on my wall. I love the homemade look. I also used the command hooks to hang up my favorite hats!

Another great way to display your quality photos is in a frame. Not just any frame, but a digital one. This Aura frame is the best way to show off all your favorite photos. Sometimes it can be hard to go and get photos printed, but with this frame, you can share them instantly. This frame has some amazing features;

My favorite part is that there’s an app that will take your best photos on your phone and sync them to the frame. No hassle of having to select each photo you want in the slide show. Aura will also avoid the low resolution, blurry, or duplicate photos. The frame is controlled by the app and doesn’t require constant maintenance. You can also upload unlimited amounts of photos to the frame, no restrictions!

I became interested in this company based on their partnership with Project : Water. Project : Water is a non-profit organization that provides clean and safe drinking water for people in developing nations. Aura is making a huge impact on such an important cause. Another awesome part about Aura is their small environmental footprint. The frames will dim or turn off based on the light levels in its surroundings. Having one of these frames also eliminates the need for printing out each individual photo, plus, the frame uses minimal power usage when it’s on. All in all, this product is a must have, especially when you’re someone like me who can’t hang all the new photos throughout the house!
