Destination : Delray Beach, FL

Last week, my boyfriend Dylan and I traveled to Delray Beach with his Uncle Will and Aunt Allie. The temperature in Boston was in the low teens, so this small vacation was exactly what we all needed.

We headed to the airport for our 7:00am flight. Checking-in and getting through security was a breeze, so I grabbed a coffee and sat at the gate until boarding.  Next came the part of traveling I dislike the most – taking off. I put on my headphones and zoned out my surroundings. Before I knew it, we were touching down in Palm Beach.

We Ubered to our hotel, checked-in, put our luggage in the room, got changed into bathing suits, and headed to the beach. We were already living the life! We were supplied with lounging beach chairs and were served drinks on the beach. The beach club had a delicious tuna sandwich that Dylan and I both enjoyed. We spent most of our first day laying out in the sunny, 70 degree weather. On our walk back to the hotel, a quick downpour pushed us into a covered outdoor bar. We all chatted and enjoyed another refreshment. Back to the hotel we went and changed for dinner. We headed to the Corner Porch and shared some appetizers. If you’re ever get a chance to go to this restaurant, try the shaved brussel sprouts and the brocco-mole!

Next day, everyone else went for a morning run, while I read and meditated. I finally broke my self-guided meditation record – 15-minutes without checking my stopwatch! After we all finished our morning routines, we spent another lovely day by the beach. No complaints there. After a few hours, Dylan and I went off to West Palm Beach to check out CityPlace. It’s an outdoor shopping center with tons of good restaurants. We shared a few appetizers at Copper Blues: brussel sprouts, hummus plate, and lemon pepper wings. Before leaving, we grabbed a drink at Brother Jimmy’s BBQ. We headed back to Delray Beach and went to Mellow Mushroom for dinner. After dinner, we walked down the street to Johnnie Brown’s. There was some great live music, so Dylan and I stopped in to enjoy and hangout.

Last full day! We, once again, woke up, ran, meditated, and enjoyed breakfast at Swell Crepes & Coffee. I ate one of the best crepes I’ve ever had. After breakfast, we set out to the beach to enjoy the warmth. We spent a good amount of time in the ocean this day; thank goodness. It’s hard to resist the blue warm waves crashing to the shore. Later, I ate the tuna sandwich (again) at the beach club, and it came with the best sweet potato fries. That night, we all went to a restaurant/bar called Boston’s to eat dinner and watch the Patriots game. This bar was Boston themed and was decked out in New England decor. No better place to watch a Patriots game when you’re away from home! The Patriots beat the Titans, 35-14. What a great way to end the vacation!

Sunday came, which meant it was time to pack and go to the airport. With a coffee in one hand and my suitcase in the other, we hopped in our Lyft to our flight. We landed back in Boston around 2:00pm.

Overall, this trip was more than I could have asked for. The weather, the people, and the memories we made will stick with me forever! I am beyond grateful that Will & Allie invited Dylan and I on this trip.

Have you ever been to Delray Beach?

    1. I started meditation when I was feeling overwhelmed at college. Instead of sitting on my phone or watching a show, I sit with myself for 10-20 minutes and really connect with how I’m feeling. Morning meditation is great when you want to feel grounded and motivated for the day! Evening meditations help me settle down after a long day. The overall benefits, for me, is the peacefulness I feel after and the good connection I have with myself and my surroundings. If you want to try it out, there are so many good guided meditations you can try on YouTube or through the app HeadSpace! Thanks for reading 🙂

  1. I am so happy to know that there is someone else who dislike taking off in a plane. Isn’t it just the worst!? Delray is so much fun, as I live fairly close. If ever in the area again, let us know so we can collab! 🙂
